PHC elects new provincial superior and council
158 confreres showed up at the Provincial Assembly held at the Arnoldus Hall of the Divine Word Seminary Tagaytay on January 18, 2017 to elect the new provincial administration of PHC for the next triennium 2017-2010. Elected were: Fr. Raymun Festin (Provincial Superior); Fr. Jerome Marquez (Vice Provincial Superior); Fr. Michael Layugan (Provincial Admonitor); and Br. Hubert Guru and Fr. Crispin Cordero (Provincial Councilors).
The election was held on the second day of the PHC General Assembly scheduled on January 16-18, 2017. The outgoing provincial superior, Fr. Nielo Cantilado, gave his State of the Province Address on the first day, followed by the report of the provincial treasurer, Fr. Renato Tampol. The election day started with a mass presided over by Fr. Cantilado, who was also the homilist. In the plenary session, the resolutions and recommendations of both 2014 and 2017 were presented and discussed, after which Bp. Arturo Bastes, SVD gave a powerful recollection talk on servant leadership. The election took place with noticeable professionalism in the afternoon.
The third day was spent for the Provincial Chapter, attended by 43 voting delegates and 9 invited guests, the latter including Fr. Antonio Pernia, Fr. Edgar Javier, Mr. Fabian Pagaduan, Mr. Pocholo Morillo, Atty. Tyrone Cimafranca, Sr. Carmelita Victoria, SSpS, Sr. Rosario Tayson, SSpS, Fr. Randy Flores and Fr. Sherwin Aromin. The select group of delegates finalized the Resolutions and Recommendations of 2017 and reviewed those of 2014.
By the time the congregation sang the Magnificat at 12:30 a.m., the confreres knew the three days they spent together had been truly grace-filled and fraternal. Fr. Cantilado extinguished the flame of the candle symbolically guiding the bible enthroned on the first day of the assembly, and then he declared the assembly closed.
